Rare Victorian Nautical Walking Cane / Stick. Dating From the mid to late 19th century. The shaft of the stick has been made from a Sharks Vertebrae. The handle I believe is Japanese, Finely Carved from Whalebone and depicting'5 Horses and a Dog' Nicely Carved and Meiji period in date. Condition Good overall with two old stress cracks to the handle, no chips or bad areas of damage.
The Shark Vertebrae is complete but looks to have been glued up over the years for strength. This isn't too serious and does scrape out as it is old dry glue, but would take time and patience to do properly. No major damage or serious losses. Displays beautifully and would make a fine addition to someones home or collection.
