Each one measured 24 to 60 inches long 1 to 2 inches width. Riving converts the greatest mass of wood in the least time with the least effort. Riven stock is stronger than sawn stock-it is an aggregation of parallel long fibers. Riven wood is less likely to absorb and lose moisture.
