This is a marvelous clearly Antique carved antler or bone Walking Stick-Cane Handle. It has a neatly incised scrimshaw-style nameplate saying G. Googling that name gets several references to a Louisiana State Legislator by that name active in the 1850s. No way of determining if it was indeed his, but the estate has connections to Louisiana so it is possible. The bone has a few imperfections (see images), some of which (the end of the handle) look original while others (side of attachment) may be subsequent damage.
