The cane features a distinctive elongated carved wooden handle in the traditional Fritz form, joined to the shaft by a substantial pale natural-material collar and metal fitting. The long wooden shaft has an especially decorative rustic finish, with repeated textured and carved sections that give the stick considerable character. The Fritz handle is a traditional European walking-stick form characterised by a relatively straight grip positioned approximately at right angles to the shaft. Although historically associated with German/Prussian cane design. A characterful and increasingly unusual antique walking cane, particularly appealing as a decorative piece or addition to a collection of antique walking sticks, gentleman's accessories and traditional treen. Approximate measurements: 86 cm long × 9.25 cm wide at the widest point. The stick retains a metal ferrule to the tip and displays an appealing aged patina throughout. Condition overall is very good with signs of historic use, marks to the wood etc.
