This is a great antique 19th century walking stick with a handmade handle (very possibly carved by a sailor while at sea and then later mounted on a walking stick). The handle is in the form of an animal could be a hare, dog, seal or polar bear (depending how long you stare at it) poking its head out of a wooden barrel but it is also a hidden erotic item in the shape of a phallus. It is impressive how the carver incorporated the hollow core of the bone he was carving into the nose / urethra. The handle has two holes for a lanyard cord at the base of the chin of the animal /frenulum.

Please view all photos with care. The The carved handle does have some cracks but the piece is very stable. The white metal collar may very well be sterling silver but it bares no hallmarks. The end ferrule appears to be horn.
