All items reputely came from The H. Ill Station in Diyatalawa, Ceylon. Which was used to house prisoners during the Boer War The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. Either hand carved by a Dutch or South African POW. Under the bust there is a coat of arms and on the reverse an anchor, most likely made for someone in the Royal Navy.
