A C19th antique late Victorian period walking stick or cane with ebonised wood shaft which has a total length of approximately 35.75 in (905 mm). The carved horn handle in the form of a dogs head with small inset glass eyes has a maximum width of 4.65 in (118 mm).
The silver band has a length of 1 in (25 mm) and has ornate engraved foliate decoration with ornate initials GFJ. It is fully and clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1892 with Makers initials J. The shaft does not have a ferrule. It is in very good condition overall with dents and a small hole to the silver band and with expected surface wear and marks commensurate with age and use.
