Fabulous Sailor Carved Boatswain or Ships Master Walking Cane (c. 1800-1850)

Out of the two this is my favourite.. The detail in this carved hard wood nautical walking stick is amazing, consisting of graduated pieces of carved hardwood, ebony?

Or fruitwood on a metal rod, with diamonds, heart & star shapes carved into each piece, some fitted with mother of pearl. It has a turned mahogany pommel at the thick end and a brass tip at the foot end. It measures 3ft long and is still extremely flexible.

18-19thC sailors carved items or folk art are incredibly sought after, so don't dally!
