Superb 19th C Lion Head Walking Stick Dress Cane, Carved Tiger's Eye & Sterling

SUPERB 19TH C LION HEAD WALKING STICK DRESS CANE, CARVED TIGER'S EYE & STERLING SILVER. This exceptional cane is topped with sterling silver and a carved lion head.

The lion head is beautifully carved from a fine piece of tiger's eye. The cane was made by William Appleton Drown & Co.

(See close-up photo of maker's mark). They were prominent maker's who showed in the 1876 Centennial Exhibition. This exceptional piece came from the estate of a descendant of the Lyon family of Philadelphia. The cane/stick measures 35 long. This cane/walking stick is in excellent condition with no breaks, chips or damage and no repair.
